Think of the last time you had a Chipotle burrito. In a perfect world, every bite would contain an equal amount of all your ingredients for appropriate flavor balance. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world. Sometimes, we have to go for a bite that's mostly cilantro-lime rice when what we really want is pico de gallo and chicken. In some locations, the wonderful Chipotle employees will mix up your ingredients upon request, but this is generally frowned upon. What are we to do?
Boom! Burrito bowl. You can mix up your food to your heart's content before you start eating. And the tortilla on the side? You can make your own burrito that way if you're some burrito-wrapping wizard (or a former Chipotle employee), but in my experience it's just as good (and easier) to scoop up your burrito bowl using pieces of tortilla.
Anyhow, back to the point. What I order:
- Burrito bowl, tortilla on the side, side of salad dressing (important)
- White rice
- Some black beans
- Chicken, or half-chicken-half-steak depending on mood
- Pico de gallo
- Medium salsa
- A lot of corn
- Cheese
- Sometimes you have to ask for more cheese
- A small drink (50% diet coke, 25% mr. pibb and 25% root beer)
- Always get it to go in the case of leftovers
